Shunt and Baby

Today we tell you the story of Baby. 🐶

A puppy of just 6 months that was diagnosed in our SHUNT center. What is the shunt?

. 👉🏼This is a birth malformation that causes the liver to not function properly. 🆘❌
. 👉🏼 It is more frequent in the yorkshire breed and its crosses. 🧬
. 👉🏼 The symptoms are varied. From vomiting 🤮, weight loss, apathy, anorexia, drooling, anemia, ascites …
. In analytics, high ammonia and bile acid alterations are appreciated. It is also common to see anemia and altered liver enzymes. 📈
. 👉🏼 To confirm the diagnosis and evaluate the surgery, ultrasound and CT are needed. 🔬
. If it is not operated, patients suffering from this disease live with many problems or even some fail to survive. .
baby a baby was operated by laparoscopy, applying a synthetic device that helps to close the shunt progressively in 3-4 weeks. An innovative technique that with only two small incisions, thanks to cameras and endoscopes, works with almost no pain and, of course, less risk of infection and faster recovery.

👏🏼Fortunately Baby has had a wonderful family who wanted to operate it, have fought until the end and after a month and a half after their surgery, we can say that their shunt has been completely resolved and their liver works perfectly. 👏🏼👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🐕
